Practicum is an essential component to a teacher’s training process, as it provides valuable insight and experience prior to obtaining independent teaching positions. WCL requires that all students accumulate a minimum of 30 hours for TEFL/TESOL certification. These hours can be achieved through observation, tutoring, student teaching or a combination of 2 or 3 of these in an ESL/EFL setting in which non-native speakers are learning new English language skills.

Our Qualifications

On completion of your course, you will receive a certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Westminster College London (WCL) accredited by International TEFL Accreditation Council. In addition to the Westminster College certificate that’s issued, you will receive an additional ITEFLAC certificate. This prestigious certificate is a worthwhile addition to your teaching CV or resume.

"Hibiscus Travels offers a wonderful program for teaching english to the students in Costa Rica. It was amazing to see how patient the students were and willing to learn. Every lesson we had planned they caught on to right away. Even the adults of the community classes were helping one another to understand our lesson plans. It is a cute town full of culture. I loved the tour Lauren gave us. The lady at the pulperia at the corner next to the house was super helpful with counting change and helping me find what I needed. I also added the dance lessons to the program - what fun! I highly recommend"

"Lauren (our teacher) was great - she any questions I had before arrival. I did this program for study abroad credit. Costa Rica was amazing! Lauren took the time to give us a tour of the city and show us all the important places. It was nice teaching to people who were very interested in learning a new language. The kids were so smart! Not only did i receive credit for this program, I also gained an incredible experience with memories I won't forget!”

"I came down for the teaching English program. I taught at the local elementary school as well as to the adults of the community in the evening. Transportation to and from the school was all taken care of by Lauren. It was great to interact with people who were so willing to learn English! What we did in front of the classroom really impacted the way they see the language. Even during the tests you can see the improvement which made me feel like i was really doing something important. I definitely recommend this program!"
